The National Museum joins other museums around the world in celebrating International Museum Day by offering tours and activities to guests and visitors on Thursday, May 18, 2017. This year’s theme is “Museums and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museums”.

Admission to the National Museum is FREE of charge. The museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The International Museum Day celebration at the National Museum will kick-off with a FREE Contested Histories Tour in the morning and end with a Doodling and Lettering Workshop for Mothers in the afternoon. In solidarity with the National Museum’s event, a talk will be given by Luisito T. Evangelista, PhD, at the Launching of Mobile Boxes Exhibit in Subangan Museum, Davao.

Here’s a summer activity for young entrepreneurs! Kids ages 5 to 17 are invited to join Kiddo-preneur Summer 2017, a marketplace where entrepreneurial kids can have first-hand experience in selling, engaging with customers and running a mini-business.

Participants may sell any product or service that caters to a wholesome family set. Repackaged items may be sold, although sale of original and homegrown products are encouraged and preferred. Selling of clothes or shoes as well as high value goods or electronics are NOT allowed.

This one-day event will be held on July 22, 2017 (from 9 am to 6 pm) at Palm Drive Activity Center, Glorietta 2, Makati City. Rental fee is Php3,000 per booth.

Prizes and trophies will be given to participants with Best Booth Design, Best Concept, Best Service and Highest Sales.

Ayala Malls’ Ultimate Summer Squad

Ayala Malls rolls out Ultimate Summer Squad, a team competition that will run from April 24 to June 4, 2017 in participating Ayala malls. It aims to encourage people to be active, engage in activities that promote teamwork and have fun this summer.

Participants (18 years old and above) must form a squad composed of four (4) members. Members have to complete timed physical activities involving giant inflatables, obstacle courses and wacky activities.

Each participating mall is classified according to five (5) areas – South, Makati, BGC, Quezon City, and North. Each area will hold an elimination round and will have three winning squads. Fifteen squads (3 winners per area) in total will then compete in the final Ultimate Summer Squad challenge for a chance to win a group summer getaway.

The championship round will be held on June 4, 2017. The top 3 squads with the fastest time in the championship round will be declared the winners and will receive the following prizes:

Third Place – an overnight stay in Seda Hotel Nuvali and a full day pass at Republic Wake Park Nuvali (good for 4);

Second Place – a 3D/2N stay in Balay Cogon, Sicogon with airfare (good for 4);

First Place – a 3D/2N stay in Casa Kalaw, El Nido, Palawan with airfare (good for 4).
