The National Museum Celebrates International Museum Day

The National Museum joins other museums around the world in celebrating International Museum Day by offering tours and activities to guests and visitors on Thursday, May 18, 2017. This year’s theme is “Museums and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museums”.

Admission to the National Museum is FREE of charge. The museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The International Museum Day celebration at the National Museum will kick-off with a FREE Contested Histories Tour in the morning and end with a Doodling and Lettering Workshop for Mothers in the afternoon. In solidarity with the National Museum’s event, a talk will be given by Luisito T. Evangelista, PhD, at the Launching of Mobile Boxes Exhibit in Subangan Museum, Davao.

Free Entrance to Yuchengco Museum

Entrance is free at Yuchengco Museum on Thursday, May 18, 2017, in celebration of International Museum Day. Take a tour of all the galleries and see the museum’s collection of heritage pieces as well as artworks by local artists currently on display (the retrospective of Burmese jewelry designer Wynn Wynn Ong, Ryan Arbilo’s photographs of overseas Filipino workers in France, and paintings by National Artists for Visual Arts from the museum collection).

Free Admission at Ayala Museum for International Museum Day

It’s free admission to all galleries at Ayala Museum on Friday, May 19, 2017 for International Museum Day. To celebrate the museum’s role in telling the stories of Philippine culture, there will be a talk by Toym Imao and Liliana Manahan, themed tours and art activities. Museum-goers may also try some of Mindanao’s food delicacies at the Mindanao Specialty Food stalls.
