3rd Danish Film Festival at Shang Cineplex

Catch the 3rd Danish Film Festival from October 19 to October 22 at Shang Cineplex, Shangri-La Plaza, Mandaluyong City. The festival is made possible by the Embassy of Denmark in the Philippines in partnership with Shangri-la Plaza and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).

All screenings are open to the public. Seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. This year’s festival showcases 11 contemporary and award-winning films from recent years:

Watch Timbuktu via Alliance française de Manille’s Ciné-Club

Alliance française de Manille’s (AFM) Ciné-Club presents Timbuktu, a French-Mauritanian film by African director Abderrahmane Sissako about the life of a cattle herder and his family amidst the ideological dogma imposed by radical jihadists in Mali.

Timbuktu, a 2014 Palme d’Or nominee, will be shown at the AFM Auditorium on May 3, 2017 (Wednesday) at 8:30 pm. Admission is FREE and open to the public. No registration is required.

The Alliance Française de Manille (AFM), founded in 1920, is one of the most prominent foreign cultural institutions in the Philippines. A non-profit organization committed to promoting the French language and culture, AFM encourages friendly relations between the Filipinos and the French through art and educational programs.

Watch Swiss films Heidi, Rascals on the Road and Vitus at the first-ever Swiss Film Festival on April 28-30 and May 5-7 at Cinema 4, Shang Cineplex, Shangri-la Plaza. All screenings are open to the public and admission is FREE. Seats are on a first come-first served basis.

Heidi (2015) is the classic story about a young orphan girl living with her grandfather Alm in the Alps, based on the biggest best selling Swiss novel written in the 1880’s by Johanna Spyri. Vitus (2006) is a 12-year old piano prodigy who wants to live a life like an ordinary kid even though his well-meaning parents have big and ambitious dreams for him. He decides to take a different path with the help of his eccentric grandfather who loves flying. Rascals on the Road (2005) is the story of four little rascals told through the eyes of 12-year-old Eugen based on a popular 1955 children’s book by Swiss author Klaus Schädelin. Eugen and his three friends go on an adventure to search for a long lost treasure by following the footsteps of “the biggest rascal of all time” Fritzli Bühler.

The Swiss Film Festival is presented by The Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines, in partnership with Shangri-La Plaza and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in celebration of of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and the Philippines.
