The National Museum joins other museums around the world in celebrating International Museum Day by offering tours and activities to guests and visitors on Thursday, May 18, 2017. This year’s theme is “Museums and contested histories: Saying the unspeakable in museums”.

Admission to the National Museum is FREE of charge. The museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The International Museum Day celebration at the National Museum will kick-off with a FREE Contested Histories Tour in the morning and end with a Doodling and Lettering Workshop for Mothers in the afternoon. In solidarity with the National Museum’s event, a talk will be given by Luisito T. Evangelista, PhD, at the Launching of Mobile Boxes Exhibit in Subangan Museum, Davao.

The Swaggers Present In The Middle (a Hip-hop Dance Performance From France)

Get into the French groove! Watch French group The Swaggers in a hip-hop dance performance titled In The Middle at Samsung Hall of SM Aura Premier on Tuesday, June 06, 2017 at 8:00 pm.

Presented by Alliance Française de Manille, SM Supermalls, French Ministry of Culture and Communication and the Embassy of France to the Philippines, the show is a part of the 70th anniversary celebration this year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and France. Proceeds of the show will go to the projects of France-Philippines United Action Foundation for the rebuilding houses of Typhoon Haiyan victims.

Tickets are priced at Php1,000 for orchestra seats and Php500 for balcony seats and may be purchased at the offices of Alliance Française de Manille. Tickets may also be purchased online here for orchestra tickets and here for balcony tickets.

Interested in the current research studies on voting patterns and voting behavior in the Philippines? A forum titled A Year After: Revisiting the 2016 Philippine Elections will gather representatives from the academe, government, business sector, civil society groups, and media to discuss these studies and provide analyses that are important in understanding the factors that influenced voting behavior and, consequently, the outcome of the 2016 elections.

Organized by the Ateneo School of Government, in partnership with the National Academy of Science and Technology and Young Public Servants, the forum will be held on May 12, 2017, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM, at the Escaler Hall, Ateneo de Manila University, Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

Android Code Camp for Professionals is a whole day seminar and workshop for developers who would like to build their development skills using the Android programming language. Presented by DevCon Philippines in partnership with the Philippine Android Developers Community, Android Code Camp is happening on May 13, 2017 from 8 am to 5 pm. Venue to be announced.

Participants should know basic Java, bring their own laptop and a copy of Android Studio with the latest SDK and an emulator installed. Bringing of an Android device is optional. This one-day seminar is a community initiative and is a non-certificate workshop.
