Repertory Philippines (REP), the country’s premier theater company, celebrates its golden year in a musical gala called REP: 50 Years of Telling Stories featuring all the Repertory stage greats at The Theatre at Solaire. REP is inviting everyone to commemorate this special event on June 11, 2017, starting with cocktails at 6:30 pm, main show at 8 pm and afterglow (for some coffee, dessert and fun) at 10 pm. Attire is formal.

Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime event to catch all the theater stars such as Monique Wilson, Leo Martinez, Joy Virata, Miguel Faustmann, Michael Williams, Menchu Lauchengco, and Audie Gemora perform on stage. Watch Swiss films Heidi, Rascals on the Road and Vitus at the first-ever Swiss Film Festival on April 28-30 and May 5-7 at Cinema 4, Shang Cineplex, Shangri-la Plaza. All screenings are open to the public and admission is FREE. Seats are on a first come-first served basis.

Heidi (2015) is the classic story about a young orphan girl living with her grandfather Alm in the Alps, based on the biggest best selling Swiss novel written in the 1880’s by Johanna Spyri. Vitus (2006) is a 12-year old piano prodigy who wants to live a life like an ordinary kid even though his well-meaning parents have big and ambitious dreams for him. He decides to take a different path with the help of his eccentric grandfather who loves flying. Rascals on the Road (2005) is the story of four little rascals told through the eyes of 12-year-old Eugen based on a popular 1955 children’s book by Swiss author Klaus Schädelin. Eugen and his three friends go on an adventure to search for a long lost treasure by following the footsteps of “the biggest rascal of all time” Fritzli Bühler.

The Swiss Film Festival is presented by The Embassy of Switzerland in the Philippines, in partnership with Shangri-La Plaza and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), in celebration of of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and the Philippines.

Catch Lean: A Filipino Musical at the Adamson University Theater on May 12 (7:30 pm) and May 13 (4 pm and 7:30 pm). Presented by UP Manila Dramatista, Lean is a musical based on the life of activist, nationalist and student leader Leandro “Lean” Alejandro. Alejandro fought for democracy against the backdrop of the Marcos dictatorship in the Philippines in the 80s.
